I hope that you know already that FLPC is ready to launch a Capital Campaign – The Next 70 Campaign – to address quite a few issues with our existing facilities. We must ensure that the buildings that have been given to us by former generations, are in good repair and useable for our mission and worship.  The work that needs to be done is work that we have simply not been able to do within the scope of our regular annual budgets, but that drastically affects our use of the buildings.  For example, our 40-year-old elevator has lived well beyond its normal life span and needs to be completely re-worked to be safe and reliable.  And heating and air conditioning are non-negotiables when it comes to building upkeep.  But we have 24 separate HVAC units, which we replace when they fail, and that is expensive.  We have work to do together, and some of what we must do has to do with securing what we inherited from the generations who built FLPC.

You are invited to attend The Next 70 Campaign Luncheon on Sunday, August 16^th after worship. Please register for the luncheon (no cost, but we must have a count) so you can learn more and ask questions.  During that luncheon you will hear details about the maintenance and repair/replacement projects that are targeted by this campaign.  And you will find out more about where FLPC will be investing the 10% Benevolent Component.  It has been our practice to give away 10% of money raised through our Capital Campaigns, and to invest that money in Christian mission beyond our walls.  This investment is going to be fun and have a place for everyone to be involved! Come and find out more.  So, if you are grateful for what the generations that came before us have provided, please plan to come and hear about our plans to be good stewards of what has been given to us.

There is a lot that will be happening at FLPC this fall.  Please make a point to read the communications you receive!  Even beyond the speakers that will help us celebrate our nation’s 250^th anniversary, and the celebrations of FLPC’s 70^th anniversary in November, we have lots of exciting plans for faith formation and service opportunities.  FLPC was chartered as a congregation on November 18, 1956.  On November 19^th we begin our 71^st year together as a Christian Congregation.  Our hearts are set on serving God and our neighbors.  We have good work to do and Good News to share.  Come and find your part in that work.
