Nightly Prayer – April 10, 2020

April 10, 2020

Dear God,

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

You, Lord, are not far from us. You promise not to forsake us, and as we enter the weekend, we ask for a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit. May the Spirit descend upon each of us in a time of anxiety, nervousness, and uncertainty.

Through the flesh of Jesus Christ, a new way, a new life was opened to us. Jesus Christ, born in flesh, humbled in body and spirit; Jesus Christ, the one who extended his hand to those on the outside and brought them into your fold. We give you thanks for the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the one who has promised to be faithful.

Tonight, Lord, please bend down to hear our prayers. Comfort the sick, homeless, anxious, depressed, and sad. Nudge the comfortable. At this time, Lord, please hear these specific concerns:

We pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, whose death on the cross brings life to each of us. Jesus Christ, who taught us, his disciples to pray, saying, Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
