FOREST LAKE TALKS

A Message from Ellen 5-22-24

Dear Friends,
We are about to finish (in June) the capital campaign that began to be discussed in 2018! That campaign has done all sorts of necessary and good things: made our playground safe and accessible, created a functional and code compliant commercial kitchen, added safety measures to our buildings, made the bathrooms that serve our 12-step programs accessible (both ADA compliant and also accessible from inside the Community Room), and it began a partnership with Serve and Connect, now called The Decker Collective, that is making a measurable difference in our near neighbor’s lives.
But there is some unfinished business that I want to share with you. In addition to some projects that were deferred because of cost, we will have some residual debt even after all the pledges are paid, and there are some important capital needs that have made themselves evident since we began the current campaign in 2020.
So, I’d like to invite you to attend one of three Capital Needs Education and Listening Sessions that the Session and I will hold for the congregation. These meetings have three objectives: (1) to celebrate what has happened, (2) to give you up-to-date information about what else remains to be done, and (3) to listen to your input and priorities about those remaining capital needs.
All three sessions are identical, but I’d love for you to pick one and plan to attend. Sunday, June 2nd at 11am (FH) Wednesday, June 12th (FH) – lunch will be available for those who reserve a spot. Sunday, June 23rd at 11am (FH)
There is no need to register for any of the sessions. But, if you would like to have a salad or sandwich at the one on Wednesday, June 12th, you do need to register for that event and pay $10 for your lunch. Put please plan to attend one of these sessions. This is your chance to get good information and to engage in conversation with members of The Session to help chart our future priorities and plans. There is so much good happening at FLPC and flowing out of this congregation. We want to keep it that way. Come and help us listen for God’s guidance.
See you in worship!
