FOREST LAKE TALKS

The 2026 Capital Campaign Plans

Dear Friends,

During the meeting of the Congregation on February 1st, you heard that the Session approved the launch of a Capital Campaign to address multiple capital needs for repairs and replacements throughout our older facility. In December 2025, the Session recommended a Capital Campaign to address the following projects:

  • HVAC Replacements (as our many older units die, they must be replaced)
  • Elevator (which has outlived its expected lifespan and can no longer be repaired)
  • Paint (throughout the building and to include the Sanctuary and Narthex)
  • Flooring (where it is in bad condition)
  • Roof Allowance (to plan for roof replacement as ours nears the end)
  • Fire Alarm (replacement)
  • Bus (to replace our bus with a more reliable, comfortable bus)
  • Bathroom Refresh (to update bathroom fixtures that are over 25 years old)
  • Capital Reserve Allowance (to establish a balance that will allow us to handle Capital Needs for the next ten years without another campaign)
  • To establish a Benevolent Component of at least 10% of our goal to give beyond our walls.

I have been working hard to help make the decisions of Session a reality. Much work has been accomplished towards making our goals a reality. So, please keep this process in your prayers and in your financial planning for 2026. There are not any new buildings or fancy gilded projects on this list. These are repairs and replacements that we need to bring our buildings (and the bus) up to date and to preserve what we have received from previous generations. I am excited that there is a thoughtful plan to address capital needs here for the next ten years. And I am even more excited that there is a VERY WONDERFUL proposal for a benevolent component investment. Keep your ears open for news. Forest Lake is strong, vibrant and invested in our community for the good of the whole and to bring the good news of the Gospel to our neighbors. And we intend to keep it that way in the future.

If you have any questions about this process, ask me. If you have any questions about the list of projects, please ask Shannon Fancher or Elder William Hunter (Chair of Property Ministry). And thank you for your prayers as we plan to do our part to strengthen the presence and mission of FLPC for the years ahead.

See you in worship!
