FOREST LAKE TALKS

Letters Home: Dear Forest Lake

Dear Forest Lake,

During the summer we know you will be traveling ~ some to visit family and friends, some on trips with the church, some to get away and visit a new place, some to just relax and find rest.  All of these are good things.

As noted in Mark, after Jesus was baptized and tempted, he called the disciples. Then began the work of ministry. Jesus was very busy – confronted by a man with an unclean spirit, besieged as he left the synagogue by many who were sick or possessed late into the day.  Mark 1:35 tells us, “In the morning, while it was still very dark, he (Jesus) got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed.”

In Matthew 11:28, Jesus tells us, “Com to me, all you that are weary and carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Now you may be just looking for respite from a busy schedule, as that is what summers and down time are for! But during this summer season, we invite you to LOOK UP & LOOK OUT to see where you encounter God as you go or as you stay.  Share those stories with us, your church family.

And for a little bit of extra fun, come on a Steeplechase Scavenger Hunt! Pictures of church steeples in downtown Columbia, and some close to FLPC, will be posted weekly.  See if you can find what church it is! Let us know your guess – how often do we notice what’s “up” there?

Which church is this?
