Letters Home: Dear Forest Lake – From Camp
June 21, 2018
Dear Forest Lake,
The week at Camp Fellowship on Lake Greenwood has been a wonderful experience. A ministry of Camping Ministries of the Carolinas, Inc, Fellowship works to engage our community in experiences that make connections for better living, stronger communities and personal and spiritual growth and development.
This summer campers have the opportunity to learn and wonder about the great "I AM" and our relationship to God as fearfully and wonderfully made children of God - who they are as individuals called into a community and living the life of faith.
The week has been filled with many activities like Morning Watch (saying Hello to God), Arts & Crafts, Canoeing and Kayaking, Turtle Tracking, Rock Climbing, Bible Study, Talent Show, Campfires, Games of all types, Swimming in the Lake, just to name a few. Not only are we fearfully and wonderfully made, but we are connected, not through technology, but by living in cabins together and sharing time with each other out in God's wide world created for us to enjoy.
Hear the words from campers about what they would tell you about camp:
"Everyone is really nice and folks understand. I can be me."
"I love swimming." "Camp is Awesome!" "Canoeing is an adventure."
"We learn about God." "I really enjoy worship. I feel closer to God and the message."
"Camp is an inspirational place." "This is the best place to come in the summer!"
"Every time I come, the next time is even better." "Not as scary as I thought."
"Place that is peaceful." "Can meet new people." "I love this place!"
Thank you, Forest Lake, for helping make sure that our children and youth get to experience camp each summer through your donations, prayers, post card encouragements, and well wishes for a fulfilling week.
Who are you? I AM a Child of God.
What does it mean to be a Child of God? That I belong to a God who loves me.
We all are working on remembering this and living it out each day.
