December 3 Advent Devotional
December 3, 2020
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
COVID; Pandemic; Stay Home; loss of employment; Masks; Social distancing; flatten the curve; protesting; rioting; looting; massive fires; hurricane after hurricane; tornadoes; damage to economic structure; addiction increases; domestic violence is on the rise; an election that is tearing apart families and friendships; hate seems to be common now on social media; etc. – Yes, 2020 has been surreal!
Recently, while driving, I was listening to KLOVE on the radio and heard this: “2020 surprised you. 2020 surprised me. 2020 did not surprise God”! This was one of those moments for me where I felt time stand still. I almost had to catch my breath. And then the tears began to flow. I have steadfastly believed through this entire year that God was with us but there have been many times when I have begged him to come and save us. That one message I heard on KLOVE was exactly what I needed to hear. God is here and I will be still and know that! As we enter our precious season where we wait and prepare for both the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas and the return of Jesus at the Second Coming, I invite all of us to Be Still and Know That He is God. And He is Always Good.
