A quick scroll through Facebook can show some wonderful work being done by our community. Good news that we very much need! There is more good work being done than I could list here but I wanted to encourage you to check out some of what is being done.

Fellowship Camp and Conference Center is providing lodging and food for the Imani Milele Choir from Uganda, which is made up of 21 children and 16 adults. This choir was booked months ago to come to America beginning their performing tour in January and were scheduled to continue through November 2020. But because of the spread of COVID-19 they had to cancel it, which also cancelled their lodging. Fellowship Camp and Conference Center stepped in to provide lodging and meals when theirs were cancelled! Please read the whole story here including how you can help.

In the past week, Harvest Hope Food Bank has distributed food to 19,100 individuals who have come through their Emergency Food Pantry. Over 400 volunteers have joined Harvest Hope on the front lines serving food in their drive-thru pantries. They raised over $63,000 for their Coronavirus Response Fund. Richland School District Two has set up stations for families to pick up meals knowing many children rely on their school for meals through the school year. In addition, a team from Joseph Keels Elementary loaded meals and volunteers onto a school bus to deliver meals, making sure all students have access to healthy foods!

And in Richland School District One, buses are providing free Wi-Fi hotspots for families who don’t have internet access. For more information on what our school districts are doing please visit their websites: https://www.richland2.org/ and https://www.richlandone.org/richlandone

Senior Resources has served over 8,000 meals to Richland County senior citizens since the implementation of their Emergency Senior Nutrition Program and with the continuation of their Meals on Wheels program to home-bound seniors. Here at FLPC, folks are sewing masks for healthcare workers! If you’re interested in getting involved with this project, email me: Jodibeckham@flpc.org

Good news is out there! Please pray for these and all the organizations in our community working hard for those in need of help. If you are looking for a way to help, I hope you will reach out to one of these organizations to volunteer or donate!
