A post about toilet paper (and other things)
March 19, 2020
Scripture: Genesis 1:27, NRSV:
So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Forest Lake participated in a conference call yesterday with various community leaders to discuss the needs within our community and how we can all work through this together. Conservationism of necessities and creative ways to reach out to our neighbors in need were the topics most mentioned.
I think we can combine these two items, and it’s not even that creative. My house needed a few things this morning, so I drove over to the Forest Drive Walmart at 7 AM just to beat the crowd. The rumors are true: Your necessary paper products, including the ones you use in your kitchen and bathroom, are currently not available at the Forest Drive Walmart, and I suspect the same applies to almost all stores around here.
Therefore, let’s pledge to help our neighbors. If we have a stockpile of basic necessities like toilet paper, wipes, sponges, cleaning supplies, perhaps someone we know needs some. Perhaps someone we don’t know needs some. If we have enough for right now, let’s consider holding off on padding the stats.
Finally, how can we uphold the “social” part of “social distancing” with those who rely on visitors and snail mail? How about writing some notes? If you are interested in writing some notes some of our members who could use an uplifting note or card, please email me: edblack@flpc.org. I will be happy to provide you some names and addresses. We’ll pay the postage!
I’m looking forward to seeing you virtually soon!
