Forest Lake Talks

A message from Ellen

January 23, 2019

Dear Friends,

The Church of Jesus Christ is supposed to be like a light, set on a lamp stand, so that all in the house have light and are encouraged by what they see in us.  (Matthew 5:14)  When we live according to the Kingdom of God, we will be like yeast; only a little bit will cause the whole loaf to rise.  (Matthew 13:33)

The Forest Lake Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund was established to encourage and to allow Forest Lake Presbyterian Church to affect the community and the world in positive ways; to be like light and leaven to the world.  Members and former members have given of their substance to provide a fund which is managed by a Committee approved and overseen by The Session.  The Endowment Fund is intended “to expand and enrich the mission of the Church.”

The Endowment Fund Agreement states that this money is to be used PRIMARILY for:

  1. Local programs, especially those of an outreach nature; such programs can be underwritten until their cost can be assumed by the budget or the need is otherwise fulfilled; and
  2. Unusual (unbudgeted) repairs and maintenance of Church property and equipment.

All proposals must be approved by a Session Ministry or the Board of Deacons prior to being submitted. The deadline for 2019 proposals is March 3. It is possible for proposals to be generated from both inside and outside of our congregation.  However, all proposals must be approved by a Ministry of Session or the board of Deacons to be considered by the Endowment Committee.  For more information and for request guidelines and forms, please contact Elder Steve Etheredge.

Our challenge is to dream big dreams for the Kingdom of God and submit proposals that will help us grow in our ability to be the Church to our community and to the world!

See You in Church!

Ellen Fowler Skidmore
