Forest Lake Talks

A Message From Dan Holloway

January 9, 2019

Dear Friends,

It has been a remarkable privilege to be a part of the Forest Lake Presbyterian church family for the last year. Forest Lake is a warm and caring community of faith that demonstrates a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ while also welcoming people from many different backgrounds and theological perspectives. You demonstrate your faith through significant community outreach but also support one another in the most practical ways possible. It has been my joy to join you in your shared ministry and I have learned much from you about what it means to be the church.

Carol and I also thank you for the lovely reception on my last Sunday and for your very kind gifts. We thank you as well for your many generous comments and so many hugs! We feel blessed by your support and give thanks for God’s providential care in making this year possible.

While the time has come for us to enter more fully into retirement, please be assured of our continuing prayers and ongoing interest. We believe God has great things in mind for this congregation and is already at work to make those plans known.  While this is a time of transition for FLPC (as it is for all communities of faith), this is still a great time to be the church. In the midst of so much change, words of faith, hope, and love mean as much as they ever have. So lean into your future with confidence, trusting God’s saving love above all else. Know that you have a dedicated staff that works extremely hard to provide good leadership. And know as well that you have every gift needed to fulfill those particular ministries to which God has called you. You are God’s own people and nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

With a deeply grateful heart,

Dan Holloway
